Jug Bay is Jug Bay is one of the most important freshwater tidal estuaries in the Chesapeake Bay region.

Take a staycation with your family this weekend and visit Jug Bay!

There are more than eight miles of scenic woodland trails for hikers, bicyclists and horseback riders.

There are two fishing areas at Jug Bay that offer good tidal fishing year-round.

Jug Bay is excellent to explore by canoe or kayak along the Patuxent Water Trail.

The park is home to the Patuxent Rural Life Museums

Jug Bay is located in Croom MD which is southeast of Upper Marlboro.

Our Nature Centers are excellent for Rainy Days this weekend!

This weekend has a forecast of intermittent rain and thunderstorms. Does this mean that your family can't have a fun, FREE experience with nature?

We don't think so!

Your MNCPP  HAS 3 AWESOME Nature Centers that are excellent resources for families. Follow the links provided below to find the center closest to you. And Get To Know your wild neighbors!

Clearwater Nature Center
Clearwater Nature Center offers a variety of interpretive programs hosted by park naturalists. Environmental education is strongly supported at this facility through interesting exhibits, displays, programs, special events, clubs, trips, and volunteer opportunities. The nature center features a small indoor pond, live animal exhibits, a lapidary workshop, and seasonal gardens. 

Mt Rainier Nature Center
Prince George's County's only urban nature center, the Mount Rainier Nature and Recreation Center features hands-on exhibits, live animals, educational displays and game room.

Watkins Nature Center
Watkins Nature Center offers close up wildlife investigation with its resident live animals, hands on exhibits, interpretive programs, and special events. Live animal displays include insects, amphibians, reptiles, and birds of prey. The nature center also features indoor and outdoor ponds, a songbird feeding area, a butterfly/hummingbird garden, composting area, an outdoor nest box exhibit, and a squirrel gym that showcases the parks squirrel population.

Capitol Heights Day Celebrates Community

Capitol Heights Day Celebrates Community with a  parade, entertainment and exhibitors. There was a good crowd.
Get-toKnow was there to engage folks in conversation about getting outdoors wi their families. It was a beautiful day. 
I would say the majority of folks hear what we had to say and said that they thinks our kids need to get out more in nature.
